Paul Haysom is a news anchor for Global News Morning BC and an avid hockey player often joining the Canucks Alumni during charity games. A former stage actor in high school, Haysom broke into broadcasting working at a medium market television station hosting nightly sportscasts, as well as a weekly TV and radio show.
In 2012, Haysom got into the world of news, becoming an award-winning anchor and reporter for CHEK-TV on Vancouver Island, before moving to Global BC where he was a producer and anchor. After moving to Calgary to anchor their Global News, Haysom returned to Global BC to the morning news.
Some of Paul’s career highlights include broadcasting live from the middle of the Stanley Cup riots in Vancouver in 2011 and covering the 2010 Winter Olympics. He also flew in to help the Global Calgary team cover the unprecedented floods in southern Alberta in June, 2013. He has won two RTDNA National awards for storytelling and live broadcast, and has been nominated as a finalist on three other occasions.
Away from work and hockey, Haysom also loves golf, tennis and running and as a collector of vinyl records, he is also trying to master the guitar.
