Steve Darling proudly calls Port Coquitlam home. Along with his wife, Jen, he is raising their two children, Hayley and Hunter, and their dog, Red. Steve is currently in his second term on the council in the City of Port Coquitlam. He is also a Senior Broadcast Journalist with Proactive Investors, a digital media site covering business news. In Port Coquitlam, Steve spends countless hours on local soccer fields, lacrosse, and hockey rinks, where he coaches boys' hockey and girls' soccer.

As a network anchor for over 20 years with Global Television, Steve covered and learned about the challenges that cities face on a daily basis. He credits his time at Global for igniting his community passion, which he plans on bringing to his work as a city councilor in Port Coquitlam. Steve has a passion for supporting charity work and currently serves as an Ambassador for the Canucks Autism Network. His extensive community work with multiple charity organizations earned him the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for Community Service.

Among his most memorable moments is scoring the winning goal in a shootout at the Smithers Celebrity Hockey game, with his Head Coach Bobby Orr cheering him on. It is still regarded as one of Smithers' greatest moments.
