Terry Grant, aka Mantracker, is a 25-year veteran of the Alberta Foothills Search and Rescue Team and the Chief Scout of Scouts Canada. An expert in utilizing clues such as footprints, probable path and other signs of human presence to track prey, Grant starred for 6 seasons in the reality TV hit Mantracker which made its premiere in 2006. Each episode, Grant, an expert tracker called the "Mantracker", pursued two individuals in the remote Canadian or American wilderness. Traveling on horseback and aided by a local guide (known as the "Sidekick"), the Mantracker relied on his tracking skills to capture two contestant referred to as ‘prey’, who needed to elude his capture while attempting to reach a finish line within thirty-six hours.
Grant said that unlike much of today's reality TV, his show was the real thing. "It was really quite a high for me, I learned really quick that this was not a typical TV show, where they tell you what to do and what to say and where to go, I kind of thought it would be scripted but it was not scripted one iota." He was honestly happy when he tracked down the people on the show and just as honestly upset when he made a mistake and they got away.
Grant is now taking people out into the back country for three-day excursions through Anchor D Guiding and Outfitting near Turner Valley.
